Engage with Medical Students undertaking Long-Term and Short-Term clinical placements in Young, sharing your skills and experience to help students achieve a fulfilling clinical experience in rural medicine.

Flexible working arrangements and generous, parental, and cultural leave.

Located in the Young area, this part-time position seeks a GP or other medical practitioner to undertake clinical teaching activities and provide clinical supervision to Australian National University medical students as part of the ANU Rural Clinical School Program.

Position OverviewANU has an international reputation for research and education relevant to the health and well-being of the population of Australia, as well as that of the developing world. This is achieved through discovery research, applied research in health service settings, research-led teaching in health and medical sciences, and the translation of research findings into practice and policy. The ANU College of Health and Medicine comprises the Research School of Psychology, the ANU Medical School, the John Curtin School of Medical Research and the Research School of Population Health. These schools work together to deliver world-class research and education across the spectrum of medicine and health-related fields, working in partnership with the health sector at local, national and international levels.

The ANU rural medicine program, delivered through the Rural Clinical School (RCS), provides access to medical education for students from rural locations, and offers rural learning experiences for all students in the MChD program. The RCS is funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health as part of the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training Program (RHMTP), and enables medical students to undertake part of their training through rural placements in six rural campuses throughout SE NSW, in Bega, Cooma, Eurobodalla, Goulburn, Young and Cowra. An integrated rural curriculum is offered across all four years of the MChD program, with year-long rural placements available for a proportion of the Year 3 cohort. By providing positive rural experiences, the RCS aims to encourage medical graduates to pursue careers in rural clinical practice. The RCS also undertakes research focused on rural health issues, as well as rural medical education and workforce recruitment, retention and development.
