ABOUT YOUR TEAM
The Australian BU Legal Team is responsible for providing legal support to the Australian business, which is the largest business in CCEP’s API (Australia, Pacific and Indonesia) business unit. Together, the Australian BU Legal Team shapes, services and safeguards our Australian business for growth, the right way.
You will be joining a vibrant, collegial, and award-winning team that works with some of the world’s most recognised brands. The Australian BU Legal Team is comprised of six lawyers, a Legal Operations Manager, our shared Executive Assistant, and a Legal Coordinator.
ABOUT YOUR ROLE
You will be part of the Legal function of CCEP’s Australian business. The Legal Counsel – Workplace Relations role is responsible for supporting the Australian business with a wide variety of Workplace Relations matters. You will work closely with the People & Culture team, managers, and others across the business, as well as the Legal team.
You will support the development and implementation of employment law strategies, build organisational capability and work across all aspects of Workplace Relations. You will advise on (and where necessary, conduct) the investigations of escalated and complex allegations on matters across the Australian business. You will also contribute to the broader legal team, advising on prioritised strategic projects and other transactions from an employment and workplace perspective. At the same time, you will be quickly become an integral member of a fast paced, customer centric team that is highly regarded and delivers results. You will further develop the specialised practice within a strong business that is proud of our commitment our customers and our role in the community.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
General Workplace Relations Legal Responsibilities
- A legal contact for the People & Culture function
- Partnering with stakeholders across the Australian business to navigate general commercial issues, as well as CCEP’s complex brand partner arrangements (which includes advising on consent and other requirements)
- Preparing, reviewing, drafting and negotiating a variety of documents (including employment and enterprise agreement terms, disciplinary material, policy, judicial and regulatory responses/submissions)
- Advise, report and support with all Workplace Relations matters (including but not limited to: the National Employment Standards, modern awards, enterprise agreements, regulatory and legal development/change, discrimination, termination of employment, restraints, remuneration and benefits, WHS, consultation and change)
- Support with obtaining efficient and effective use of outside counsel, seeking to minimise external spend
- Providing internal legal support for litigious matters, supply chain projects, M&A projects, property and construction matters, marketing and intellectual property queries, and health, safety and environment matters (including assisting with the investigation, reporting and resolution of safety incidents at CCEP sites)
- Liaising with regulatory and judicial authorities - including the Fair Work Commission/Ombudsman, state and federal anti-discrimination tribunals and other functions - on routine and non-routine matters
Connecting, collaborating and knowledge-sharing
- Connecting businesses, functions and teams across CCEP – including through the organisation of and participation in cross-functional activities, such as knowledge sharing sessions
- Developing and delivering effective legal training and resources to the Australian business
- Contributing to the Australian BU Legal Team’s intranet site, which is a key tool for the team to support the Australian business and provide quick access to legal resources, such as templates and tip sheets
- With members of the wider CCEP Legal Team being based in our other countries of operation (e.g. United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, New Zealand, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea), you will also have the opportunity to collaborate across jurisdictions and share learnings, including on global working groups

- Helping to manage relationships with external law firms, including by acting as a key CCEP contact and facilitating interaction between law firms and the Australian business.
- Driving innovation in the delivery of legal services, including by developing and maintaining automation tools for processes and documents in conjunction with the Legal Operations Manager
- Proactively identifying opportunities to improve processes, policies, and procedures to encourage continuous improvement and empower the Australian business.
LET’S TALK ABOUT YOU!
To be successful in this role you will have:
- 3 to 5 years of post-qualification experience in a legal Workplace Relations role
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from an Australian university (or equivalent)
- Qualified to practise law in Australia with a current practising certificate.
- In-house legal experience, whether on secondment or directly, preferred but not essential.
- Commercially savvy with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Broad experience with employment, industrial, compliance and regulatory issues
- Strong drafting, negotiation and advocacy
- Confidence to run with any issue and be accountable
- Ability to work autonomously, effectively and seamlessly across our Australian business, alongside corporate functions and with other stakeholders
