Beaumont&Beaumont have been engaged by our client to recruit a number of Legal Officers (APS4 - 6) to work within the Commercial Law team of a major Commonwealth Government Department in Canberra
Ideally, candidates would:
- Have some demonstrated commercial legal experience,
- Be Canberra, Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne based; and
- Hold a Baseline Security clearance.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Delivery of high-quality legal services that meet client expectations, manage business and legal risk, compliance requirements and professional standards.
- Develop and maintain client relationships with business areas and promote the division as the department’s trusted advisor.
- Supervise and support other section members including contributing to the setting of the direction of work priorities and practices and monitoring workflow for legal support staff as required.
- Have professional responsibilities within a legal team delivering services in a very complex environment and have “day-to-day” responsibility for legal matters with important Government and client implications.
- Drafting high quality documents (including briefs, instruments, explanatory statements, agreements and correspondence).
This position is being offered on a contracted basis, with initial 6 or 12 month terms being considered, with the possibility of extension to a maximum of 18 months.
