Join our team as a Legal Practice Manager and play a crucial role in our dynamic legal department. Reporting directly to the General Counsel's Principal Lawyer and Adviser, you'll drive operational excellence, strategic initiatives and continuous improvement projects, supporting DTP legal executives and the DTP legal teams more broadly. Responsibilities include coordinating Legal practice support, through a matrix management arrangement of administrative staff, developing and managing systems and process, and leading high-level projects. Position Outcomes / Accountabilities
We are currently seeking a skilled Legal Practice Manager to join our team at the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP). In this role, you will provide expert guidance and organisational support to our legal executives and administrative staff, ensuring smooth operations and interaction with the department.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, co-ordinating and implementing Legal practice processes and leading a range of professional legal and executive services across DTP Legal.
- Critical Thinking and Problem Solving – Takes into account wider business context within business unit when considering options to resolve issues; Identifies recurring problems and prevents future recurrence by integrating solutions into work processes.
- Project delivery – Translates strategies into programs or projects that enables achievement of outcomes; Defines governance required to manage risks and maximise probability of success.
- Knowledge management and business continuity – Knowledge management and business continuity is integrated into risk management planning for all projects.
- Develop capability – Develops and applies frameworks to develop capability at organisation level.
- Digital and Technological Literacy – Integrates improved capabilities into service delivery processes.
- Innovation and Continuous Improvement – Uses understanding of clients or stakeholders; contest to design and implement systems for continuous improvement within team; Reviews and analyses internal and external information to improve effectiveness and quality of work.
Qualifications and Experience
Mandatory
- Demonstrated experience in Legal practice management.
- A Bachelor of Laws or relevant tertiary degree in Legal practice management, business administration, public administration or similar. is desirable.
- Experience in administering case management systems (i.e. LEX and Salesforce) and SharePoint (cloud) based software.
