This position is suitable for either an early career or well-established Podiatrist looking to develop their high-risk foot clinical skills. You will be well supported by the team and will be provided regular group and individual supervision as part of the role. The role covers all aspects of Podiatry and includes seeing patients for neurovascular assessments (including toe brachial indices on every patient), wound care, Charcot-neuroarthropathy management, critical limb ischemia, general care and nail surgery. You will enjoy an exciting and varied workload, with a high level of clinical complexity.

This position will have 4 hours quarantined each week for CPD activities and to complete a Quality improvement project for the NECACS podiatry department.

Where you’ll be working:

The New England region of NSW is known for its impressive landscape and historic small country towns. It is a large farming region with incredible bushwalking tracks, beautiful National Parks and spectacular waterfalls. If you love country music, you’ll love Tamworth, with museums and memorabilia on all aspects of the genre. You can take a trip to Armidale and explore the many small towns along the way. Popular spots to visit include the Moonbi Ranges, the museum and craft shops in Uralla, and the nearby fossicking area. The New England region is the beating heart of country NSW, and offers everything that the city life offers, without the traffic and queues.

The New England Podiatry service provide Podiatry care to a number of key sites in the New England region with the support of the Royal Flying Doctors Service. The team has a strong commitment to Closing the Gap and, together with their Aboriginal Health Practitioner, received an award for the Healthy Deadly Feet Program. This program was rolled out by the Ministry of Health in 2019 and aims to reduce preventable amputations in the community through providing high risk foot care to patients with acute foot pathologies. Tamworth is one of only two sites in New South Wales who were successful in kicking off the Healthy Deadly Feet Program - we are proud of the part we have played in having a purposeful impact on Aboriginal communities.

About You:

This position is suitable for a Podiatrist who enjoys a fast-paced environment. Support and mentorship will allow you to develop your skills in the management of high risk foot complications. This is an ideal position for a New Graduate or any Podiatrist who is looking for experience in rural and regional practice as well as inter-disciplinary care.
