DMS is a locally owned and ran company in Nhulunbuy Northern Territory. We currently have 18 fully qualified mechanics, 3 diesel mechanic apprentices, parts team and admin team. As a team DMS service a range of customers from large mining companies, small earth moving contractors, local councils, Indigenous corporations and everyone in between. We are known to supply top quality mechanics that will take on any job inside our team's abilities. We pride ourselves in supporting most local sporting events and fundraisers as best we can to see the town of Nhulunbuy prosper into the future. As a team we also pride ourselves in being able to work seamlessly in the Aboriginal homelands we service and being able to work side by side with indigenous leaders to create a bright future for everyone.
About Nhulunbuy,
Nhulunbuy is located on the Gove Peninsula and is the largest town in East Arnhem Land. The town is well serviced with two primary schools a high school, day care centers, a hospital and various sporting clubs. Nhulunbuy is a great community to work in that has extremely good camping and fishing if you would like to spend your break here exploring with your new work mates.
About the role,
As a field service Light Vehicle Mechanic, you will be required to fly to Nhulunbuy and from there to remote communities in East Arnhem Land to undertake the following tasks but not limited to,
- Carryout servicing and Maintenace on various types of equipment for local councils, civil contractors and government contractors.
- Carryout Advanced diagnostics of mostly Toyota Light Vehicles.
- Carryout Aircon repairs on mostly Toyota Light Vehicles.
- Carryout maintenance on remote islands and communities unsupervised.
- Vehicles commonly worked on are Toyota, Hino, Caterpillar, John Deere, Isuzu, Hitachi and Komatsu.
- Relay any defects found directly to supervisor in Gove to enable DMS to report to the customer and get parts on their way for future repairs.
The communities we service, All the communities have everything needed to survive, with this role you will traveling between them. All accommodation is self-contained and clean bedding is supplied.

About you,
DMS require the successful applicant to have a can-do attitude and be self-motivated. You must be neat/ tidy in presentation and keep a clean work area. Be flexible to undertaking any task thrown your way along with having the willingness to learn as you go. Along with the above DMS require,
- Must be able to transit into and around Aboriginal communities with respect for community members.
- You will have a diesel mechanic trade certificate with 3 years’ experience.
- Must have experience in Toyota 4x4 servicing and repairs.
- Must have exceptional customer service skills.
- Must be self-motivated, customer driven and be able to work completely unsupervised.
- Air conditioning experience favorable.
- Electrical system repair knowledge and experience will be held in high regard.
- Have exceptional organizational skills.
- Have sound computer skills with the ability to keep records of all work done and relay defects found to DMS supervisor.
- Hold a car drivers license.
