We have an opportunity for Linesperson Deck Hands to join our Lines and Mooring Operations in the Port of Newcastle on a causal basis.

Reporting to the Lines Leading Hand, you will work as part of a team to perform mooring and unmooring services for vessels visiting the Port of Newcastle. Successful candidates will join a dedicated group of Linespersons on a 24/7 rotating roster. Due to the nature of Casual work, you may be required to work days, nights, weekends and public holidays.
What You Will Do
Your key responsibilities in this position will include:
- Deck Hand work on launches and work boats as required
- carrying out vessel maintenance
- Servicing Moorings
- Undertake line running, mooring and unmooring
- Any other duties as reasonably required by Svitzer
What You Will Need To Succeed
To be successful in this position, you will be able to demonstrate
- Specific Skills, competencies and certification related to the Mooring industry, or the potential to develop them
- Minimum General Purpose Hand certificate Near Coastal (NC)
- A current AMSA Medical and a valid MSIC or 'Job Ready' MSIC Application (or proof of ability to obtain)
- Willingness to undertake training to obtain Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Linesperson)
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to work under pressure, particularly in emergency situations
- Excellent communication skills
- Good problem-solving and fault-finding skills
- The right to live and work in Australia
