This role will require an all-rounded infrastructure resource with expertise in Linux and networking technologies.

Your new role

As an IT Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for maintaining, configuring, and ensuring the reliable operation of our computer systems and networks. You will work closely with the Head of IT Operations to ensure the stability and security of the IT infrastructure. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Monitoring and maintaining servers, both physical and virtual, across multiple platforms (Windows, Linux, etc.) on-premise and cloud environments.
• Performing regular updates, patches, and system upgrades to ensure optimal performance and security.
• Configuring and managing user accounts, permissions, and access controls across various systems.
• Installing, configuring, and deploying new servers, network infrastructure, and applications based on organisational requirements.
• Implementing server provisioning and automation to streamline deployment processes.
• Ensuring proper integration of new systems with existing infrastructure.
• Managing and maintaining network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
• Monitoring network traffic, analysing trends, and implementing security measures to safeguard data and resources.
• Managing and maintaining VoIP and other communication systems to ensure reliable and efficient communication channels.
• Troubleshooting and resolving network issues.
• Implementing security measures to protect ICT systems from cyber threats and unauthorised access.
• Conducting regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests.
• Managing backup and disaster recovery strategies to safeguard critical data.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience as an IT Systems Administrator or a similar role.
• Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN), and patch management.
• Knowledge of system security (e.g., intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery.
• Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms.
• Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude.
• Excellent communication skills.
