About the roleThe
Consumer Consultant provides systemic advice in the development, embedding and enhancement of consumer support and participation across Eastern Health Mental Health and Wellbeing Service. This role requires independent and autonomous work practices and senior
Lived Experience skills which includes input to the review and development of policy, practice guidelines and scope of practice relating to consumer support and engagement.
About youTo be successful in this role you will possess:- Lived experience as a consumer who has accessed public mental health services.
- Demonstrated ability to work systemically with internal and external services and staff to benefit consumer’s/service users
- Understanding strengths-based model of recovery – specifically the Collaborative Recovery Model used at Eastern Health (or willingness to undertake related training).
- Strong passion to improve public mental health services
- An understanding of the diversity of the cultural and linguistic backgrounds of our community (including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people), and the impact this has on consumers’ and carers’ experiences of mental ill health and recovery
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated skills in utilisation of appropriate technology
- Ability to work flexibly, with a high degree of initiative, ability to work both autonomously and with others.
- Highly developed interpersonal experience
- A strong commitment to high quality care
- The ability to work as part of a diverse team
- Excellent communication and organisational skills

Desirable: ound knowledge of the relevant legislation (including Mental Health Act) and frameworks for recovery oriented practice pertaining to working in mental health and with consumers, carers/families. Training in Intentional Peer Support Model. Current Victorian Driver's licence.
