About the Elders Livestock Career Development Program:

Elders, Australia's most trusted agribusiness, is thrilled to launch the next intake of our National Livestock Career Development Program. This 18-month Program has been specifically designed by our livestock team to develop the skills of our next generation of livestock professionals and offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience across the country, working with our exceptional team. Successful candidates will commence their journey on October 1st, 2024, and on completion of program, move into a permanent livestock position.

What you can expect:

  • Specialized Sales Training: Benefit from comprehensive training and development opportunities designed to develop your ability to assess livestock and provide accurate and strategic advice to farmers. Learn from industry experts and gain insights into market trends while honing your communication and negotiation abilities.

  • Field Experience: Immerse yourself in the livestock industry by working alongside our experienced livestock team. Gain practical knowledge in livestock handling, auction processes, and livestock transportation.

  • Client Engagement: Build strong relationships with our valued clients and learn how to provide them with expert advice and support. Develop an understanding of their needs, identify market opportunities, and assist in driving their business success.

  • Auction Exposure: Participate in livestock auctions and sales events, supporting the team with administrative tasks, customer inquiries, and logistics coordination. Gain firsthand experience in a fast-paced sales environment.

  • Networking and Collaboration: Expand your professional network, establish connections with industry professionals, farmers, and suppliers, and create lasting relationships within the agricultural community.

  • Mentorship and Support: Receive guidance and mentorship from our experienced livestock team throughout the program. Benefit from their wealth of knowledge and industry expertise as you progress in your career.

What do our successful trainees have in common?

  • Familiarity with Livestock Industry: They have some experience or familiarity with the livestock industry, whether through studies, internships, or personal involvement. This familiarity allows them to quickly adapt and contribute to the program.

  • Passion for Livestock: They have a genuine passion for the livestock industry and take pride in wearing the pink shirt. They are dedicated to supporting clients and delivering exceptional livestock sales solutions.

  • Strong Work Ethic: They possess a strong work ethic, taking initiative, and going the extra mile to exceed expectations. They are motivated, reliable, and committed to personal and professional growth.

  • Excellent Communication: They have excellent communication and relationship building skills, enabling them to easily build trust and rapport with their clients.

  • Adaptability and Resilience: Our trainees thrive in different environments, embracing change and learning from new experiences. They enjoy relocating to different regions or states during the program to learn from our best mentors and trainers.
