About the role
Project Location – Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea
Reporting to the Senior Manager Business Development and Local Content and based at the Port Moresby Office, this position is responsible for driving local content compliance, developing Oil Search specific local content policy, and providing guidance to operational teams on key local content focus areas during formation of contacting strategies. The role also requires driving training and localisation programs with the people and culture team while providing the short, medium, and long-term planning for the local content aspect of business development and local content function. This role is open to PNG nationals only.
Working in compliance with Santos Management System (SMS, key responsibilities of the role include though are not limited to:
- Drafting specific local content sections to input into tender documentation aligned to prevailing legislation and Oil Search specific Local Content Policy
- Tracking local content initiatives implemented by landowner owned businesses and Oil Search specific initiatives
- Tracking diversity and gender targets for the country manager team
- Utilising a mentorship and similar programs to drive excellence in operations
- Providing research papers on how similar countries like Papua New Guinea have applied local content and how Oil Search can evolve using this research
- Utilising local content subcommittees in industry bodies by Oil Search to advance its local content aspirations
- Providing a comprehensive appreciation of prevailing legislation in Papua New Guinea governing local content base line Oil Search against this required legislation
- Reviewing applicable joint venture agreements in our operating licences to identify whether we are observing our local content obligations
About you
The ideal candidate will be degree qualified in law, business management or similar with significant (5-10) years of experience in developing and Implementing Local Content Plans and Strategies within the resource industry in Papua New Guinea.
To be successful in this role you will need to be a highly effective communicator with the ability to clearly and concisely articulate ideas, concepts, and proposals to engage team, peers, and leaders and effectively partner with operations and business teams in building effective programs and strategies. You need to have the Ability to manage and oversee projects & programs and work efficiently under pressure.
