About the Centre/Service At Lockington Kindergarten we believe that every child has the right to feel safe, secure, and supported to reach their full potential. Learning through child lead, holistic and open-ended play that is supported by all educators in the room. We support, scaffold, and discuss children’s interests and guide further learning based on the belief that children are competent and capable learners, who have an innate desire to learn. Encouraging questioning, investigation, and exploration daily. Our program is emergent in nature, ever changing to the needs, strengths and interests of the children present in our room. Allowing for individual children to grow and develop in their own time whilst offering appropriately challenging and diverse activities. We understand that families and carers have the greatest influence on a child’s life; in building relationships that are trusting and open we can provide greater opportunities to best meet the needs of all children. Our relationships with families and the wider community are something we pride ourselves on, with strong connections to our local school. This provides children with positive and familiar transition from kindergarten to school. By working together with families and additional services as required, we can better engage and support a child’s learning and wellbeing journey. We expect as educators that each child who attends our kindergarten, will achieve all that they are capable of. Whilst also respecting the varying ways and rates at which each child will learn. Expectations we have of our children are therefore informed and reflective of a child’s individual strengths and abilities. Respectful of diversity and culture that children and families bring. Every child is guaranteed to receive an education suited to their needs regardless of their ability, cultural background, ethnicity, gender, or socio-economic background.
