The Opportunity
Maribyrnong City Council is looking for skilled caring professionals to join our Community Care Team. The Social Support Assistants will deliver programmed, enjoyable activities designed to support and enhance older community members' connection to community, independence, health, wellbeing and socialisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the planning and development of activities that support both individual goals and the broader objectives of the service, being to maintain and increase participants' level of physical, psychological and intellectual functioning.
- Facilitate planned group activities that improve the physical, intellectual, creative and sensory functioning of participants.
- Provide personal support to clients whilst in care of service, including mobility assistance, personal care and Social Support.
- Communicate effectively with service participants, their families and carers to coordinate high-quality service delivery and encourage feedback.
- Prepare and provide meals and snacks in accordance with safe food handling practices and health regulations and that cater for dietary requirements.
- Undertake regular risk assessments and safety checks regarding facilities, resources, activities and processes and maintain a safe environment and equipment for programs at all times.
- Work collaboratively with the Social Support Team to evaluate activities for continuous improvement.
- Undertake administrative duties as required.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have the following:
- Certificate III Home and Community Care, formal qualification in related discipline, or significant experience in the caring industry.
- Experience facilitating group programs for participants with physical and cognitive support needs.
- Knowledge of the Aged Care system and support services available in the community.
- Current Working with Children Check.
- Current Victorian Driver's License.
- No relevant criminal record found in a Police Check.
