Locomotive Driver

Watco Australia operates rail services on the West and East coasts of Australia, providing container and bulk transportation solutions for customers in the grain, agriculture, livestock, rail infrastructure, minerals and steel manufacturing industries. 

Watco Australia is a dynamic and growth focused organisation that is currently growing nationally. We have operations in Queensland, Western Australia and New South Wales. We have several openings for experienced Locomotive Drivers to join our team with positions available across multiple locations in Queensland, including Emerald and Townsville.

As a successful candidate, you will be part of our valued team responsible for train services throughout Queensland. The incumbents will be customer focused with a safety always mindset.  

You will need the ability to 

• Undertake Watco train services with a customer focused mindset
• Pass a Category 1 Rail Pre-Employment Medical and alcohol and other drugs tests
• Ensure compliance with HSEQ policies and procedures
• Maintain excellent relationships with all applicable customers and team members 
• Undertake travel, shift work and work away from home temporarily and as when required
• Ability to work 24/7 shift work including weekends

What you will bring

• A current Locomotive Driver Qualification with recent driving experience (Certificate IV)
• A current unrestricted Class C drivers’ licence
• Experience with shunting and yard operations
• A current SARC and Safework Rules and Regulations competencies
• A current RCS and DTC knowledge/competencies
• A safety always mindset
• Fatigue management skills
• Route knowledge of regional Southwest, Central, Northern Queensland and Western Queensland regions will be highly regarded
