About the role:
Trojan Rail is currently looking to appoint a casual and qualified Wagon Maintainer based in Townsville, QLD.
- Maintain and repair wagons, including scheduled servicing of wagons
- Undertake wagon maintenance in-field, such as unscheduled maintenance, recovery and collision damage wagons
- Construct and assemble components for repair/replacement/modification to wagons
- Abide by Safety, Health and Environment policies
- Perform welding and similar activities
Requirements for the ideal candidate:
- Ability to Pass Rail CAT1 medical, inclusive of musculoskeletal test
- Australian Driver’s License (no restrictions)
- Statement of Attainment of TLI units that align to job role for Host Employer
- Police clearance with no court outcomes
- Experience with rail wagon repairs and maintenance
- Forklift ticket
- Heavy vehicle licence
- First aid certificate
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform inspections of rail wagons to identify any damage or malfunctions
- Repair or replace damaged components, such as brakes, couplings, and suspension systems
- Diagnose and repair electrical and hydraulic systems
- Conduct tests to ensure the wagons are safe and meet all operational requirements
- Keep accurate records of all repairs and maintenance activities
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and in all weather conditions
- Must be able to lift heavy objects and work at heights
