About the Job
The Rail Services team at Mader are currently seeking experienced Wagon and Rolling Stock Maintainers for workshop based roles, reporting to our valued clients workshop Supervision in Mackay/Nebo on a 7 days on, 7 days off roster,
You will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Maintenance and repairs of wagons & ore cars
- Draft gear, couplers, yokes
- Inspection, diagnostics, maintenance and repairs for all wagon rolling stock
- Component diagnostics and change outs
- Wheelsets and bogie changeouts
- Pneumatic and Hydraulic systems
- Electronic controlled braking maintenance (ECP)
- Structural inspections and repairs
- Removal and installation of large heavy components of wagons & ore cars
- Maintenance of Hi Rail equipment if required
- Adhering to industry standards and site safety regulations

What you need
- Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic, Mechanical Fitter, Fitter Machinist or Boilermaker Trade Cert
- Experience working on Rollingstock, Wagons or Ore Cars
- High Risk License (Rigging, Working at Heights etc.)
- Valid C Class Drivers License
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment medical & provide a National Police Check

- Apply fatigue management strategies
- Apply safety critical communications in the rail environment
- Apply awareness of railway fundamental
- Apply accident-emergency procedures
- Carry out train roll by inspection
- Shunt, couple and uncouple rail vehicle
- Test Train breaking system
- Conduct full train examination
- Maintain and use hand tools
- Provide first aid
