Discover Opal….We manufacture goods that you see, touch, and use every day and our customer base includes some of the biggest names in FMCG, Retail and Fresh Produce.We stand for innovation, smart solutions, and sustainability!Discover the Opportunity....We are currently seeking a Machine Manager to join the paper manufacturing plant operations team at our Maryvale Mill.The main purpose for this role will be the management of paper machine production through creation, development, and management of standard operating procedures, processes, and standards.Your focus will be on continuous development of the asset performance through disciplined projects aimed at improving the overall machine efficiency (time, finishing, and speed efficiency) and cost effectiveness.Key Elements of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Driving continuous improvement of assets and business outcomes and continually developing and implementing programs and actions to improve tonnes, uptime, finishing and speed efficiency
- Challenging the paper machine process to achieve cost excellence; on a continuous basis identifying opportunities to reduce manufacturing costs (variable and fixed) in all categories and delivering on these opportunities
- Liaising closely with equipment and consumables suppliers to find solutions to process problems and identifying new improvement opportunities
- Developing, coaching and mentoring employees on how we can think and act differently in relation to waste elimination, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement
- Providing the business and teams regular paper machine performance, status updates, feedback, and appropriate reporting on key responsibilities and objectives
- Engineering degree or Pulp and Paper Tertiary Qualification or 10+ years technical experience in papermaking and process engineering
- Proven experience in process improvement, leading projects with a record of successful implementation.
- Strong leadership skills with proven ability to manage change, develop your team and strategically plan for continuous improvement
- Experience in six sigma and working knowledge of lean principles
- Ability to think creatively, conceptually, and logically whilst remaining practical
- Ability to improve quality, presentation, and productivity by developing existing processes beyond current design
- Self-motivated, ability to work without close supervision.
