Based in Darra, QLD the role of Machinist/ Fitter & Turner will join our highly skilled workshop team taking responsibility for performing basic lathe/milling operations by utilizing medium size machines including manual lathes/mills and inspect basic/routine parts for defects and wear.

About YouTypically, you come from a strong mechanical background with sound mechanical knowledge, at least one year machinist experience or machine trades technical schooling and a solid understanding of materials and their various applications. In addition, you would have adequate personal tooling which is required for performing machine shop related tasks.
Key Selection CriteriaThe essentials
- A relevant Australian-recognised trade certificate - Cert III or above.
- Previous experience performing manual machining operations such as drilling, tapping, boring, broaching, and conventional milling and lathe work using various engine lathes.
- Following effective safe work practices and procedures and FLANDERS work instructions and procedures.
- Understanding materials and their various applications in order to complete job.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprint drawings.
Key Deliverables
- Setting up and machining of armatures and rotors
- Undercutting and hand Beveling of Commutators
- Precision Balancing of rotating components
- Sleeving of worn bearing housings and components
- Basic welding and fabrication
- Correct use of overhead & gantry cranes
- Use precision measuring devices and techniques to ensure proper sizing of components.
- Record data to produce expected service and/or design results including sizing and illustrations.
- Perform scheduled and reactive maintenance on equipment as required
