We are looking for a Maintenance & Grounds Supervisor to join the team at Cardinal Freeman Retirement Village located in Ashfield. With a small team of Maintenance and Grounds Officers reporting to you, you’ll be organising, managing, and overseeing a range and variety of day-to-day maintenance requirements in the village, ensuring the continued comfort, safety and happiness of our residents residing across the 318 units and 40 serviced apartments.
A permanent, full-time position, Monday to Friday, 8am – 4pm.
About the role:
In this key role, you’ll oversee the maintenance team and supervise and deliver appropriate and efficient maintenance of the village, creating and sustaining a safe environment for residents. Supporting the Village Manager in contractor management, ensuring contractors sign in and abide by all WH&S practices and legislation, issuing work permits where relevant. In addition, but not limited to;
- Prioritise and action resident maintenance requests submitted in line with agreed timeframe expectations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with residents, through delivery of outstanding service
- Build and maintain effective work relationships with all team members and contractors at the village
- Assist with general building maintenance and repairs as required
- Coordinate and manage external contractors undertaking maintenance or ad hoc repairs
- Manage regular maintenance and upkeep
- Deliver preventative maintenance including: smoke alarms, air conditioners, hot water units, gutters, pergolas
- Coordinate a preventative maintenance program by external contractors including electrical test and tag, mechanical ventilation, auto-door servicing, lift services, footpath safety and fire safety services
- Undertake basic administrative tasks associated with maintenance

- You’ll bring with you, your maintenance experience, and a wide variety of general handy skills, from either the aged care, retirement living, facilities or hospitality industry or similar
- Experience in team management or supervising or had experience in overseeing other team members that may not have necessarily reported to you directly
- Confident, great communicator and engaging and interacting with residents and team will be your strength, as well as your ability to build and maintain effective relationships externally
- High attention to detail and adherence to Work, Health and Safety
- Take pride in consistently delivering a high quality of work
- Basic computer skills to manage minimal administration including emails
- Current valid driver’s licence to be able to use the work ute during work hours
