As our Maintenance Assistant, you will be the master of all trades, prepared to take on any maintenance request, playing a crucial role in RMHC VIC & TAS’s mission to support seriously ill children and their families.

What we’re looking for:
We are seeking a Maintenance Assistant who will be responsible for the general up-keep of grounds and maintenance of RMHC VIC&TAS property, buildings, grounds and furniture to a high standard. Ensuring a safe environment for our families, staff, volunteers and stakeholders.
What you’ll be doing:
- Ensure that all rooms, amenities, and communal spaces within the property are well-maintained and in excellent condition
- Maintain and care for gardens, lawns, paths, playgrounds and common areas to meet service level requirements
- Regular cleaning of external building windows, facades and other infrastructure such as outdoor areas, seats, benches, handrails, playground equipment and such according to the operational schedule
- Blowing and pressure cleaning of concrete and paved areas and walkways
- Undertake waste removal requirements
- Lead and manage recycling strategies and initiatives.
- Attend to maintenance activities as required including maintenance of buildings and/or equipment not requiring a qualified tradesperson. This may include and not limited to repairing doors, handles, walls and painting.
- Work with existing and new external contractors when required to deliver specialised trade services
- Provide general assistance to support RMHC VIC&TAS Programs, activities and events
- Attend to and/or management of deliveries of donations, supplies, equipment/furniture and maintenance purchases.
- Action and close out maintenance requests using online systems and other tools to demonstrate compliance with quality standards, policy and legislation
- Complete and maintain required documentation relevant to the role
- Ensure a safe environment for families, staff, volunteers and stakeholders by adhering to work, health and safety regulations and practices
Who are you?
You are a driven individual who is inspired by our mission and eager to support our maintenance requirements through achieving exceptional results. You should be able to demonstrate experience relevant to the role, such as Grounds or Facilities Maintenance or similar.
Essential skills & knowledge: Demonstrated working experience relevant to the role such as Grounds or Facilities Maintenance or similar.
Desirable skills & knowledge: Experience in the Not-for-Profit and/or Healthcare sector; High level stakeholder engagement experience; Formal trade qualification and / or demonstrated working experience relevant to Maintenance, Gardening, Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing or similar
