Form of workAn exciting opportunity for a Maintenance / Groundskeeper person to join our team in a permanent full-time capacity at Billabong Wildlife Sanctuary in Townsville on a 6-month contract.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience with:
- Basic labouring skills
- Ability to use power tools, operate a tractor and drive a manual car.
- Building / Carpentry experience
- Ground maintenance experience
- Basic mechanical skills
- Basic knowledge of plumbing and irrigation systems
Primary duties;
- Building and repairing animal enclosures
- Property maintenance
- Equipment repairs
- Perimeter fencing monitoring and repairs
- Earth works
- Gardening tasks, irrigation installations and repairs
- Plumbing requirements
- Tree works
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- High level of understanding of Workplace Health and Safety
- Ability to multitask and have strong time management skills
- Be fit for physical work in a North Qld environment. Carry / support up to 20 kgs for a prolonged period
- Enthusiastic, mature-minded, confident, well presented and able to demonstrate a high level of work ethic and initiative
- Strong safety conscious focus
- Monday - Friday contract with occasional weekend hours required in the business needs determine this.
- Be an Australian resident or appropriate visa
- First Aid certificate
