About the role
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Superintendent’s accountabilities and functions will include the safe and efficient delivery of all maintenance execution services in the port of Albany. They will be responsible for the leadership and direction of the maintenance team, ensuring Southern Ports assets are maintained to achieve accepted levels of service across the lifecycle of the asset base.
There will be a focus on implementing and supporting work management processes and performance reporting including the identification, prioritisation, execution and close out of all preventive, corrective, and emergency work. The Maintenance Superintendent will also support the planning and scheduling function by ensuring the required process inputs are provided as needed.
  
Asset integrity and reliability will be a priority focus for the Maintenance Superintendent, working with the Reliability, Engineering, and Project Delivery teams for achieve common goals.
  
Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, guidance and support to maintenance teams.
  • Provide guidance and support through the implementation of work manage processes.
  • Ensure maintenance staff have the correct role specific training and training currency is maintained.
  • Implement strategies to improve and maintain a positive culture aligned to Southern Ports values.
  • Ensure decision making is aligned with organisational context.
  • Provide an environment where staff feel safe to follow procedures and raise any safety related concerns.
  • Ensure safe systems of work are readily available and followed.
  • Encourage a proactive approach to safety management.
  • Lead by example and demonstrate an unwavering commitment to safety.
  • Use asset risk to drive maintenance prioritisation.
  • Develop strategy to use Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) and Risk Based Inspections (RBI) tools to drive maintenance performance.
  • Work with Reliability Engineer to ensure all critical path works are delivered to reduce risk and improve asset reliability.
  • Implement quality assessment measures to ensure work is completed to the required standard.
  • Standardise task scoping and RFQ process to ensure effective direction is provided to the vendor for submission of quotes and tenders.
  • Ensure procurement processes are followed during vendor engagement process.
  • Audit contractor performance to reduce risk and drive a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure contractor management procedure is followed at all times.
    Understand SP Asset Management objectives and how these are impacted by maintenance execution performance.
  • Encourage teams to identify improvement opportunities and support them in trialling continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop a performance measurement framework identifying key metrics and measurement tools.
  • Implement performance metrics into maintenance execution processes.
  • Mentor teams in the use of performance Metrics to drive continuous improvement.
Experience and Requirements
  • Trade qualification or extensive experience (5 years) in maintenance management roles (E)
  • Qualification in Asset Management (D)
  • Post Graduate degree in Business (D)
  • Qualification in Leadership and/or Management (D)
  • Technical: Expert / Professional that has guided, developed, and influenced practice in the Work Management Execution area with a minimum experience of ~5 years. Requires detailed knowledge of principles and concepts related to maintaining and operating operational equipment and limited knowledge of other functions. Significant workplace experience in computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) across mining, industrial or port operations
  • Leadership: Team leadership role in a maintenance environment with a minimum experience of ~5 years. Made a strategic contribution by assigning or re-assigning work, interpreting policy, explaining and providing a frameworks and strategies. Experience in decision-making that directly impacted his/her own team and closely related teams
  • Operational: Contributed to projects. Had responsibility for budgets at a work team level
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Influenced / agreed solutions with a small group of internal stakeholders on middle & senior management level
  • Maintenance Work Management Processes & Systems (Weekly & Shutdown Management). (E)

  • Capable information technology skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications (E)

Requirements
  
To be eligible for this 2-year fixed term full-time role, applicants must provide proof of Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
  
The successful applicant must have a current WA driver’s licence, be able to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Access Card and undergo a pre-employment medical assessment including drug and alcohol testing.
