Responsibilities of the role:
As a Field Maintenance Technician at Swissport Australia, your primary role involves administering field maintenance and oversight of the airport ground support equipment (GSE) fleet. Working closely with the Fleet Maintenance Coordinator and Airport Managers, you play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless functioning of the GSE fleet network. Your responsibilities encompass regular maintenance, repair, and rapid response to breakdowns, ultimately contributing to the efficient operations of airports.
Main Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on the airport ground support equipment (GSE) fleet.
- Perform equipment repairs and troubleshoot issues to maintain proper functionality.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and address failures efficiently.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines during maintenance tasks.
- Provide training and guidance to team members on equipment operation and maintenance procedures.
- Participate in equipment testing and inspections to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Maintain effective communication with stakeholders, including fellow technicians, supervisors, and equipment suppliers.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in GSE technology and maintenance practices.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including equipment maintenance logs and repair documentation.
- Order and manage spare parts and supplies to maintain adequate inventory levels for maintenance and repairs.
- Collaborate with the Fleet Maintenance Coordinator and Airport Managers to prioritize and schedule maintenance activities.
- Conduct Quality Inspections on assets returning from maintenance providers.
Experience and Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of the Aviation industry (preferred), particularly in ground support equipment operation and maintenance.
- Extensive experience in heavy vehicle and/or plant & equipment fleet management, including lifecycle costing and effective parts and supplier management.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and comprehension of equipment design and operation (mechanical, automotive, or plant trade qualification preferred).
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and exhibit initiative.
- Experience with Maintenance Management Systems (e.g., Maximo), preferred
- Understanding in the Microsoft Office Suite and adaptability to company IT systems.
