ROLE:The Disability SDA Homes
Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of specialized disability accommodation (SDA) homes for participants in Queensland. This role encompasses a diverse range of responsibilities including painting, assembling furniture, performing repairs, patching walls, Lawn mowing, installing equipment, cleaning, and changing locks. The
Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and functionality of the homes for residents with disabilities.
Major ResponsibilitiesPainting:
- Assess painting needs and prepare surfaces for painting.
- Apply paint or coatings to walls, ceilings, and other surfaces as required.
- Ensure color and texture consistency throughout the premises.
- Maintain paint supplies and equipment in good condition.
Assembling & repairs
- Assemble furniture, fixtures, and specialized equipment for disability accommodations.
- Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components in a timely manner.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs and address issues promptly.
- Patch walls, ceilings, and floors as needed to maintain a safe and functional environment.
- Perform general repairs to plumbing, electrical systems, and other building components.
- Address any structural or safety concerns in accordance with regulations and guidelines.
Installations:
- Install disability aids, equipment, and modifications to enhance accessibility and usability for residents.
- Ensure installations meet safety standards and accommodate the specific needs of residents.
Cleaning:
- Perform cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and sanitizing surfaces.
- Clean and disinfect bathrooms, kitchens, and common areas regularly.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in accordance with health regulations.
Lock Changes:
- Change locks on doors and windows as needed to maintain security and privacy for residents.
- Keep accurate records of lock changes and key distribution.
Mowing:
- Regularly mow the lawn to maintain an appropriate height for the type of grass and the season.
- Adjust mowing frequency based on grass growth rates, weather conditions, and seasonal variations.
- Ensure mower blades are sharp and properly adjusted to achieve cleanliness and even cuts.
- Edge along sidewalks, driveways, and landscaping borders to create clean, defined lines and prevent grass encroachment.
- Use a lawn edger or trimmer to achieve precise edges and maintain a neat appearance.
