About the opportunity
We have an exciting permanent, full-time opportunity for an experienced and high-performing professional with a passion for innovation and improvement.
Working within the Finance team, the ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles and concepts, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to analyse and communicate key financial and non-financial data to a range of stakeholders is vital to this role.
The role requires a self-starter who can assist the Management Accountant Coordinator with the operation of the annual and long term budgets, together with the production of monthly budget reports and the quarterly review of Council's budget.
You will be required to partner with managers throughout the organisation to guide and advise them on the annual budget process and the long term financial sustainability of Council's services.
Qualifications and experience
Essential:
- A degree in an appropriate field
- Minimum of 5 years accounting experience
- Proven ability to meet deadlines
- Solid relevant work experience
- Exposure to local government sector
- Current class C driver’s licence.
Desirable:
- Local government experience
- Experience using TechnologyOne software systems
- Knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service
- Ability to work within a team environment.
Remuneration and benefits
The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
- Entry level for this position starts at $1,796.10 per week
- 35-hour working week
