  • Remuneration: $ 118,883 - $133,948 (+ 17% superannuation and leave loading)

Why Your Role Matters:
The Manager, Academic Skills Partnership plays a key role within the Division of Education and Student Experience, by providing leadership and strategic thinking in the delivery of accessible and effective academic literacy and skill development support for students. This will contribute to increased participation and success in education and is aligned with the UNSW 2025 Strategy to enhance Educational Excellence and the Student Experience.
The role entails design, development and implementation of a pedagogically driven program of embedding Academic Skills across the student lifecycle that enables academic development and success. The role will work in collaboration with academic staff, Faculties, Schools and Nexus to identify Academic Skills and literacies needed for academic success in courses and beyond. The role will work with Academic Learning Facilitators to offer expertise in developing resources, learning activities, training workshops, and assessment tasks for Academic Skills and literacy development. This role will increase accessibility and reach of the Academic Skills development across the student cohort, contributing to a quality UNSW Student Experience.
Who You Are:
We are seeking a dynamic individual, who is an innovative problem solver and subject matter expert in Academic Skills and Literacies to join our team. They will excel at building strong relationships with academics, understanding course learning outcomes and academic literacies needs. The ideal candidate brings experience sharing knowledge, facilitating workshops and/or training teaching staff. They are very organized, able to document project progression and outcomes and deliver things to strict timeframes.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience. A postgraduate degree in or PhD in appropriate disciplinary area with significant relevant experience teaching, or similar, a distinct advantage.
  • Proven experience in carrying out analysis of student learning and academic literacy needs across a range of contexts.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the development (including authoring content) and implementation of academic literacy and skills resources, activities and assessment design, both independently and in negotiation with discipline-based colleagues.
  • Demonstrated success communicating and promoting the embedding of materials within curriculum.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully deliver training and/or professional development to teaching staff.
  • Demonstrated understanding of educational theory, with the demonstrated ability to evaluate, demonstrate and promote the benefits of embedded resources/activities/assessments to stakeholders.
  • Sound stakeholder management skills, with the ability to think strategically and identify avenues to innovate the delivery of academic literacy and skills resources, influence course convenors and senior management and liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success working effectively, positively and independently in multidisciplinary teams with the capacity to take responsibility, exercise independent judgement and proactively address and resolve complex problems as they arise in a “client-customer” focused environment often with rigid constraints.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
