Your Opportunity
The Manager, Apprenticeship Management and Administration is responsible for:

  • leading a large and dynamic portfolio across a broad range of apprenticeship management and recognition of prior learning (RPL) administration activities performed within the Recognition and Workplace Services, Contract Management and Services and Client Account Management sub-teams;
  • maintaining high level strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support effective and efficient delivery of administrative services for apprenticeships, traineeships and RPL contract management; and
  • contributing to the positioning of SkillsTech as the lead provider of trade and technical training through the effective promotion of TAFE Queensland products and services as they relate to apprenticeship management and RPL.
This position reports to the Director, Client Services and Apprenticeship Management.
This is a fixed-term Temporary, Full-time opportunity, to 2 June 2023 unless otherwise determined.
The position will be based primarily at Acacia Ridge however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Apprenticeship Management and Administration team and participate as a key member of SkillsTech's leadership group to ensure the achievement of the TAFE Queensland Strategic Plan and key objectives under SkillsTech's Operational Plan.
  • Foster a team culture that values excellence in financial performance, customer experience, continuous improvement and innovation in the delivery of high quality services to internal and external clients.
  • Lead in change management, risk identification and business improvement processes within the region to ensure the services of TAFE Queensland SkillsTech are compliant with Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) standards, Pre-qualified supplier (PQS) and other statutory and legislative requirements.
  • Manage the effective deployment of staff and resources within agreed budget parameters to accommodate operational needs of SkillsTech and any emerging priorities to ensure high levels of client service delivery and achievement of revenue targets for User Choice and RPL.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of team operations through audits, stakeholder feedback and the analysis of performance data, promptly implementing solutions for critical problem areas which negatively impact compliance, financial performance and the delivery of a positive customer experience.
  • Provide strategic advice and information to the Senior Executive Team which includes operational performance data, the impact of changes in VET policy, market intelligence, industry changes and growth opportunities.
  • Provide leadership to the TAFE Queensland Apprenticeship Operations Network and coordinate the efforts of the group to develop and implement operational strategies which deliver consistent and quality administrative services for apprenticeship/traineeships across TAFE Queensland.
  • Actively facilitate engagement activities and regular interaction with the Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN), State Training Authorities, industry stakeholders and client groups to develop key relationships and positive business partnerships to support the strategic goals and objectives of SkillsTech.
  • Provide supportive leadership and the facilitation of regular local Performance Planning and Development (PPD) processes and reviews within the team, seeking out opportunities for the development of staff leading to increased levels of organisational capability and staff engagement.
  • Contribute to the success of cultural change within the organisation through promoting and modelling SkillsTech's core values and Agreed Behaviours and the established TAFE Queensland values of Working Together, Focussing on our Customer, Taking Responsibility, Showing Initiative, and Safety First.
How you will be assessed
The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and implement changes to meet the business objectives and adapt the business to new policy environments and opportunities relating to apprenticeships, traineeships and skills recognition.
  • Proven conceptual, analytical, technical and innovative problem solving skills to effectively manage resources and deliver sustainable, flexible, responsive, customer-focussed solutions within timeframes and budget expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and lead others in the development and implementation of operational policy, procedures, revenue generation strategies and key performance indicators.
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills required to sustain productive stakeholder relationships and to work collaboratively with executives, staff and diverse stakeholders, both internal and external to TAFE Queensland Skillstech to achieve commercial outcomes for the business.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide innovative and strategic leadership and organisational capability development, promoting a positive culture, innovation, productivity and wellness within a dynamic, challenging and changing environment.
