Melco Engineering Pty Ltd is recruiting for an Facility Managerto join our dedicated Bowen-based team.

Melco Engineering is a heavy fabrication business headquartered in Mackay, with operations in Paget and Bowen We have large scale facilities and fabricate a range of products, including many large scale products. This includes manufacturing original equipment for mining equipment OEM’s and major design houses and a range of workshop fabrication and site services for asset owners and Tier 1 contractors in the mining, ports, sugar mills, and other industrial sectors.
We are seeking an experienced operator with engineering or other relevant qualifications to lead our teams in the productive execution of works from estimation through to job/project completion. We have well-established operational management systems to manage all steps in the project/job cycle and the successful candidate will be tasked with the priority to lead our teams in the excellence of execution of this system. This will include the imperatives of training and development of people at all levels from staff, through tradesmen and Melco’s apprentice programs and continuous process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Melco’s teams in the winning and productive execution of works - all things from estimating through to job execution.
- Drive compliance with and excellence in utilisation of Melco’s established operational management systems, including estimating, project/job management, and cost control processes.
- Maintain and grow Melco’s commitment to developing our people – staff, tradesmen, and apprentice programs.
- Provide leadership to sustain a proactive and positive culture.
- Ensure Melco maintains a safe workplace and meets all safety compliance standards and reporting.
- Grow the Melco business from existing and new relationships and existing and new/developing business streams.
- Responsible for Melco’s position in its communities, including reputation, facilities presentation, etc.
- Business budgets, productivity, and profit.
- Accurate and timely reporting as required on a weekly and monthly basis to the General Manager.
Skills and Qualifications:
Essential
- Engineering or Trades qualifications
- Extensive 10 years + of fabrication experience in heavy industrial/structural environment
- A minimum of 5 years experience in facility, operations, or contract management role in an engineering or construction environment
- High level of proven estimating, project management, business development, and management.
- High level of proven cost & quality control, reporting, process measurement & improvement.
- Strong mechanical and structural aptitude
- Excellent numeracy and literacy skills.
Desirable
- Post-trade certificates/qualifications such as Leadership, Management, Business, Engineering, etc.
- Strong MS Excel & Project skills
