ABOUT THE ROLE
The Corrective Services Academy (the Academy) in Bentley, is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and is responsible for identifying and delivering the Corrective Services current and future learning and development needs at the individual, business group and organisational level in the areas of foundation, corporate governance, work skills and professional development.
The Academy’s Operational Training Branch consists of five Training Sections and is accountable for developing and delivering training in accordance with Corrective Services operational requirements, with a focus on foundation training for front line staff working in custodial and community settings.
Based at the Academy, the Manager, Custodial Training is responsible for the management, coordination and supervision of the Custodial Training Section which is the largest Section within the Operational Training Branch.
The Custodial Training Section develops and delivers custodial related training, with the primary function being foundation (entry level) training for newly appointed Prison Officers .
The position provides advice and assistance in the area of training packages and competency-based training & assessment to Custodial Training staff and contributes to ensuring the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) accreditation is maintained through adherence to standards and procedures.

ABOUT YOU
You will assume a pivotal role in driving business and service delivery improvements and building a high-performing team focused on delivering quality Custodial Training for operational client bases within the corrections environment.
You will be able to demonstrate significant experience in managing a team or teams to successfully deliver a range of training activities and to monitor and evaluate these activities in a complex and highly regulated organisation.
You will draw on your extensive experience and skills in managing offenders in prison to drive training expectations and guide training staff and students in their roles as they relate to the custodial environment.
You will be an excellent communicator and possess the capacity to network effectively to build and sustain relationships with key stakeholders both internal and external to the agency.
You may be required to undertake intermittent travel and to work outside of normal hours.

Eligibility
  • Possession of or progression towards a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
  • A current and valid ‘C’ class drivers’ licence or equivalent.
  • The position holder may be required to travel and deliver training state-wide at prisons and offices as required.
