About the Role
Reporting to the Faculty Executive Director, the Manager, Engagement and Partnerships provides leadership and strategy development for the exhibitions, partnerships, and engagement functions for the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning at the University of Melbourne. In collaboration with the Faculty Executive and other senior staff within the Faculty, the role will plan, lead and deliver on the broad engagement aspects of the Faculty’s strategic and operational plans.
The position manages a team of exhibitions and partnership professionals to deliver engagement outcomes for the Faculty. The position has a strategic focus in leading the day-to-day operations. Stakeholder management and the ability to work in and across different teams is especially important for this position.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a Faculty engagement program that provides enriching opportunities for students
- Oversee the cultural and international partnership portfolios for the Faculty including partnership identification, establishment, and activation
- Plan and deliver Faculty strategic engagement plans, incorporating profiling academic programs and supporting student experience, research an extensive exhibitions program, Engagement and Partnerships activity
- Lead the curation and programming of exhibitions in collaboration with the Associate Dean Engagement and the Faculty Engagement Committee.
- Leadership and professional development of staff and to effectively motivate, coach and enable staff to achieve goals, providing clear performance expectations
- Actively contribute to a positive and professional work environment that fosters innovation, teamwork, high achievement, continuous improvement and job satisfaction
- Comply with quality assurance, in line with requirements under the University’s risk management framework including OH&S, legislation, statutes, regulations and policies
Who We Are Looking For
To be successful in this role, you will have high level stakeholder engagement skills and creative programming abilities, with a demonstrated capability to communicate information clearly to diverse groups.
You will also have:
- Extensive experience as a leader and manager of engagement functions, or an equivalent mix of education and relevant experience
- Experience working at an executive level with a track record of success in engagement strategic development and implementation
- Experience in successful partnership brokering
- Passionate about improving student experience using Engagement and partnership strategies
- Strong analytical and project management skills
- Leadership experience in managing multiple complex programs involving many stakeholders.
- Experience in managing and curating large-scale events and exhibitions programs
- Strong creative outlook in-line with design-based disciplines, with a passion for the potential of the built environment to improve quality of life
- Demonstrated teamwork skills and a capacity to work independently and exercise sound judgement

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check.
