Its aim is to safeguard, promote, and prevent risks to individuals and the broader population from Environmental Health hazards impacting human health, whether directly or indirectly.
Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) is in southeast Queensland and extends through the coastal and hinterland areas from Caloundra in the south to Gympie in the north.

Key Responsibilities include:
- Provide expert leadership and strategic knowledge in Environmental Health to develop solutions to complex service delivery problems, ensuring a cohesive and collaborative approach to planning, development, and provision of Environmental Health services.
- Maintain oversight of operational and resource management of the Environmental Health team, including the direction and control of physical and financial resources, performance appraisal, professional development, and staff management, leading operational planning, and implementing quality assurance mechanisms to ensure alignment with strategic directions and compliance with state-wide and local policies and procedures.
- Engage with the multidisciplinary leadership team to contribute to service development, high-level service improvement initiatives, multidisciplinary Public Health practices, and related organisational improvement initiatives. This collaboration aims to ensure the delivery of high-quality Public Health services to clients and stakeholders.
- Accountable for the monitoring of professional standards in Environmental Health in accordance with SCHHS and State-Wide standards, and provision of leadership in the development, implementation and monitoring of Environmental Health services, compliance program, and policies within the SCHHS.
