This is a permanent full-time position commencing as soon as possible. 

The School Curriculum and Standards Authority (the Authority) provides quality curriculum, assessment and standards to enable all Western Australian students to become confident, creative learners and active, informed citizens who contribute positively to society. One of its key priorities is the development and administration of high-quality examination, testing and certification programs that instil confidence in the Western Australian curriculum and standards of achievement.

Central to managing the development of ATAR course examinations, Externally Set Tasks (ESTs) and Common Oral Assessment Task (COAT), as part of the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE), is the Manager, Examination Development.

We are seeking a committed professional who has the ability to lead and manage the Examination Development team to deliver high quality examinations and assessment materials within tight timelines, processes and budget. The ability to liaise, consult and negotiate with a diverse range of stakeholders is critical to this role, as is, an eye for attention to detail.

Within this role, the Manager will prepare budget submissions and financial management control processes related to development and publication of examinations as well as prepare financial plans that consider current and future requirements of allocated project budgets.

Eligibility and Training Requirements

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check if required

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
