The Role and our Branch
The Financial Services Branch is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic Manager Financial Policy and Governance.

The Manager, Financial Policy and Governance is responsible for leading and managing the
Branch and providing strategic direction and specialist skills and advice. As the successful applicant you will provide strategic leadership in the development, implementation and coordination of the school compliance review program, financial policies and guidelines and other resources under the Branch’s responsibility.
You will influence Finance and Commercial Services’ strategic directions and business plans through maintenance of an awareness of best practice, trends and issues concerning the core functions of the Branch.
The Manager, Financial Policy and Governance provides guidance and direction to a broad range of school and non-school clients related to financial management, legislation and accountability. Provide high quality advice on contemporary financial and risk management matters to facilitate compliance. As the successful candidate you will Investigate and provide recommendations on complex issues related to accounting, finance, compliance and legislation in order for informed decisions to be made in optimising resource allocations.

6. Demonstrated high-level skills and experience in achieving outcomes and delivering quality products and services consistent with customer needs and defined quality expectations, including timeliness.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- hold a tertiary qualification in an accounting or related discipline and eligibility for membership of a professional accounting body
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter.
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
