The administrative records of the RAS date back to its inception in1822. These records cover the Society's many facets, including the Royal Easter Show and the competitions, conferences, publications and people through which the RAS promotes excellence in agriculture. The Heritage Centre also preserves the records of many Breed Societies. It holds an extensive collection of photographs, documents, ephemera, perpetual trophies and medallions.
As Heritage Centre Manager you will be responsible for leading a passionate and dedicated team, delivering the strategic direction, planning and implementation of Heritage Projects that complement and further the charter of the RAS, including:
- Management of the appraisal, retention and disposal of records generated by Royal Agricultural Society business units
- Establishment and maintenance of effective systems to encourage utilisation of the collection, and its safety and long-term preservation.
- Management of the appraisal, arrangement, description, and physical location of the collection deemed worthy of permanent retention for both historical and legal purpose
- Overseeing the management, preservation, storage, safety and presentation of the Perpetual Trophies including but not limited to them being exhibited in prime condition at each Sydney Royal Easter Show
- Overseeing the management of the supporter program and prizes and awards throughout the year
- Design, plan & deliver the Heritage Pavilion exhibition at the Sydney Royal Easter Show
- Eligibility for Professional membership to the Australian Society of Archivists
- Experience in archival collection management, preservation and care
- Experience in exhibition planning and delivery
- Excellent people skills and management experience
- Experience in budget management
- Effective time management skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks daily
- Outstanding work ethic
