About the role
The Conservation Programs Branch of National Parks and Wildlife Service is seeking a Manager Invasives Project and Research Unit to coordinate and deliver targeted pest and weed research and management programs and activities across NPWS parks and reserves.
As the Manager Invasives Project and Research, you will lead a geographically dispersed team while being accountable for supporting the coordinated delivery of state-wide and high-quality programs such as the Feral Deer Project, Feral Animal Control Innovation including feral cats, Supplementary Pest Control Program and Hawkweed Eradication Project. You will ensure policies and guidelines for the safe, humane, and effective use of firearms and other pest control and ecological management technologies are in place and complied with.
You will manage politically and environmentally sensitive issues to gain support for programs and innovative solutions to address complex and sensitive issues.
About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:
- Extensive experience in leading the development and delivery of innovative, best practice feral animal management, ecological management or related conservation programs.
- Experience representing a government agency at high level industry and public forums to foster effective working relationships with stakeholders.
- Detailed understanding of government processes, policy and procedures, including their application to ecological management and conservation.
Essential requirements
- Tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent experience in invasive species management programs.
- Driver’s licence
