AddressThe Department of Education is implementing a Youth Engagement Reform package to support at-risk students to stay at school, re-engage in school or access alternative learning. The new intensive education case management service will enable 78 case managers across Queensland to work collaboratively in regional teams to deliver intensive case management and provide transition supports. The IECMs will manage education, intervention and prevention initiatives relating to students who are at risk of disengagement, already disengaged or at risk of becoming involved with the youth justice system.The Manager, Intensive Education Case Service, is a new role to provide leadership of the IECM regional team in implementing the new service. There are two Manager roles available: one in Metropolitan South region, and one in South East region.

About the Role
The Manager, Intensive Education Case Service will lead, manage and develop a team of Intensive Education Case Managers (IECMs) in supporting students and families with complex needs and backgrounds. The role will promote collaboration with other government and non-government agencies and lead the provision of high quality, evidence-based education case management for young people with complex histories and circumstances to achieve positive educational outcomes, transitions and pathways.
The Manager will oversee the delivery of best practice case management protocols, strategies and integrated supports to reduce lost days of learning and improve educational outcomes for students at risk of disengagement from education.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide high level advice and support to senior officers on policy and strategy relating to the nominated area.
- Contribute, as a member of the senior management team, to setting the strategic direction for the unit and ensuring the effectiveness of policies, standards and procedures.
- Coordinate and contribute to the strategic direction and activities as defined in priorities set by senior management.
- Provide ongoing evaluation of the activities and work practices within the functional area of the position to ensure alignment with changing corporate goals.
The Manager will hold a small caseload, and therefore skills in case management, as well as team leadership, are required.
