The Position
The Manager Natural Environment & Sustainability will lead the newly established Environment & Sustainability team to ensure that the environmental significance of the region is protected, and any development is planned in an integrated manner.
This is a unique opportunity to build and lead a professional green team safeguarding the Cassowary Coast.
This Leadership role has been developed following a strategic review of the organisation’s operations and has been designed to achieve best outcomes for the Cassowary Coast Region, our community, our organisation and the people that visit, live, work, do business and come to our region for enjoyment.
Key Accountabilities
- Coastal, marine, waterways, land and the built environment is protected from environmental harm
- Environmental management practices compliment and enable tourism, development, new industry (including adventure sports, eco-tourism, agriculture, power generation, water supply etc.) community activities, education, and research
- Development in the region is sympathetic to the environmental significance of the region and protects the many endangered species in the region
- Environment, planning, and development is well coordinated to enable a strategic approach that will contribute to economic growth and environmental sustainability.
