SciWorld is a not-for-profit South Australian STEM Incursion provider dedicated to inspiring and engaging young South Australians with Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
We deliver a range of science workshops, shows and mobile planetarium programs to Schools, OSHC groups, libraries and at community and public events across metropolitan and regional SA.
Reporting to the General Manager, we are currently seeking a casual Manager of Volunteers to provide co-ordination of the volunteer program and supervision of our volunteer team.
This role is part of a small management team, working alongside the Office Manager and Storeroom Manager.
The role is offered as follows:
- Employment on a casual basis under the Miscellaneous award
- Hours offered will vary from 8 to 15 hours per week
- Working hours can be spread over a number of days
- Flexible start and finish times are available
- An office is provided with laptop, iPhone, dual monitors, printing etc
- Based at our office and storeroom at Magill
- Fleet vehicles are available for business use
This role will be required to:
- Manage and supervise our volunteer team
- Co-ordinate the roster of volunteer engagement
- Meet set targets for volunteer recruitment
- Screen, interview, induct and on-board new volunteers
- Assign tasks, monitor and follow-up on progress
- Support volunteers to maximise participation
- Schedule and host in-house volunteer networking events
- Work closely with our Office Manager and paid presenter team when assigning volunteers to program shifts
Due to the requirement for this role to provide in-person supervision to volunteers, this role must be carried out through full attendance in the office, therefore work from home arrangements are not applicable.

- Previous experience working with volunteers in a supervisory capacity
- A communicative style that is clear, engaging and professional
- Empathetic approach when working with and supporting volunteers
- Organised and efficient with time
- Proactive and practical
- Prepared to wear a supplied SciWorld uniform
Essential requirements:
- Hold a current car class driver's licence
- Hold a valid Working with Children's Check or be prepared to obtain one
- Hold a National Police Check (within 12 months of issue date)
