Job Description
Reporting to the Fire Management Services Branch Manager:

  • Directs and controls Regional Fire service coordination across the state and ensures fire planning addresses identified priorities.
  • Provides leadership to Fire Aviation and State Facilities and Logistics Services and ensures coordination of fire aviation operations, state facilities, plant and equipment, logistics and ensures they are integrated into regional delivery of Fire Services.
  • Represents the department, liaises and works collaboratively and effectively at senior level with other agencies as required, to help advance the department’s fire management interests, including facilitating inter-operability as appropriate.
Selection Criteria
Applicants should address the following five (5) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than five (5) pages in total. * Demonstrated understanding and extensive experience in planning and implementing contemporary fire management programs in natural (bushland) areas, including appreciation and mitigation of risks, and emergency response operations.
  • Demonstrated highly developed skills, competence and experience in effectively managing multi-disciplinary teams. Demonstrated ability to set clear direction and priorities, introduce change, achieve outcomes, review and adjust performance, and resolve conflict using appropriate strategies.
  • Evidence of highly developed written and oral communication skills; including a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, liaise and negotiate with various community organisations, government instrumentalities, industries and stakeholder groups at a range of levels, depending on the audience knowledge and background.
  • Demonstrated competence and substantial experience in financial management and using computer software (including word and excel) for report writing, data analysis and data management.
  • Ongoing willingness and ability to participate in fire management activities that contribute to bushfire suppression and prescribed burning operations commensurate with capability, capacity, training and level of experience.
Note: The successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current (issue date not older than 6 months) and satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.
