The Opportunities

The Manager Residential Care (Non Qualified) will work in the areas of child protection and children in Care and is responsible for:

  • Contributing to the planning and management of Residential Care facilities and promoting sound innovative and responsible casework and community work practice,
  • Effective day to day management and operation of the Unit,
  • Managing team resources, assigning tasks and ensuring equitable distribution of workloads within the team,
  • Quality assuring and quality improvement functions within a team and providing reports,
  • Supervising and supporting team members and liaising with other Team Leaders, District Case Managers and Senior Advisors to ensure sound practice standards and providing learning and development opportunities for the team,
  • Convening and chairing Planning forums.

The Senior Manager Residential Care (Qualification required) works in the areas of child protection and children in Care and is responsible for:

  • Providing services to children in the CEOs care, in accordance with Division 5 (Placement and Residential Care) of the Children and Community Services Act 2004 and other relevant legislation to ensure the safety and protection of children,
  • Exercising powers in relation to Division 8 (Powers of Restraint, Search and Seizure) to ensure the safety of a child and other persons,
  • The overall management of Residential Care facilities and effective day to day management and operation of the Residential Care Home,
  • Managing Residential Care Officers, an Education Officer and other professional support staff in accordance with the Department’s Therapeutic Care framework,
  • Providing consultation and advice to Managers Residential Care,
  • Ensuring the provision of a safe and caring environment for vulnerable children in residence.

There is currently 2 permanent position/s available for immediate filling.

Qualification Requirements
You must have a Bachelors degree in Social Work, Psychology, or relevant human services area to be eligible for this position.  All overseas qualifications must be assessed for Australian equivalency.
