Period of AppointmentAppointment to the role is on a permanent, full-time basis (up to 73.5 hours per fortnight).
Duties- Provide high level advice, leadership and support to the Director Secretariat and Legal Services in relation to the Department’s secretariat function.
- Lead the development and implementation of appropriate strategies, projects, systems, and processes to ensure the effective and timely flow of information, advice and correspondence between and within the Department and its Portfolio Ministers.
- Remain up to date on the key issues and portfolio areas of the Department and its Ministers to allow informed advice and decision making.
- Develop and maintain key internal and external stakeholder relationships, including acting as the department’s principal liaison between the department and its Ministers, particularly Chiefs of Staff.
- Identify key priorities, risks, work standards and allocate resources (including financial resources and team members’ skills and time) to appropriately serve the needs of diverse clients.
- Oversee quality control and have strategic oversight of all correspondence prepared for Ministers and the Secretary.
- Manage a dispersed team, with a strong and cohesive culture, to deliver on the service and support goals for the Department and its Ministers.
- Lead and coordinate the execution of Ministerial requirements for Parliament (including preparation and support for Question Time, Questions on /without Notice, and Budget Estimates).
