ABOUT THE ROLE
The Special Operations Group (SOG) provides specialist 24/7 armed emergency response and security support services for all correctional facilities within the State. The SOG also provides surveillance and intelligence gathering, high-security escorts, specialist training and exercising.
The Manager Security and Planning controls and administers an expert technical capability in security operations for the SOG and across the custodial estate. The position will work in direct support to SOG and prisons management to enable planned and effective operations and specialist services delivery throughout the State. The position provides technical expertise, advice, support and training to SOG staff, in relation to Security and risk management.
The role plays an active role in the conduct of operational testing of security systems, processes, equipment and infrastructure at custodial facilities.
In addition, this position may form part of an emergency management team structure during emergencies at any custodial facility.

  • Demonstrated experience in the application of security risk management processes, in an operational, regulated, public safety or related organisation.
  • Proven ability in the conduct of planning processes, identification of optimal solutions and the generation of operational plans, to enable short to medium term operations.

ELIGIBILITY * It is a requirement that the position holder is successful, within 6 months of commencement, in obtaining a:
  • NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL ONE security clearance as a condition of employment and maintaining the clearance for the duration of their appointment in the Only Australian Citizens are eligible to hold the NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL ONE security clearance.
  • Possession of a current Western Australian ‘C’ class drivers licence or equivalent.
In accordance with the National Child Safety Principles, people who work directly with children and young people, you must have a current Working with Children Check or be able to successfully apply for one to be eligible for appointment to this position.
Subsequent Vacancies
