About the role

The Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA) is responsible for managing the application of bankruptcy and personal property securities laws through the delivery of high-quality personal insolvency and trustee, regulation and enforcement, and personal property securities services. 

The Corporate Services Division is responsible for delivering a range of business and enabling services that support the Australian Financial Security Authority purpose through partnering with business divisions that regulate Australia’s personal insolvency and personal property securities programs. The Division provides professional services and leadership that promotes the efficient and effective operations of the agency whilst ensuring compliance with commonwealth legislation, polices and guidelines and promoting integrity, accountability and transparency.

Purpose of the Position

Manage and deliver a range of projects ensuring their completion in consultation with key stakeholders, on time, within budget and to the required quality and organisational standards.

Key accountabilities

  • Develop and document compelling business cases, project initiations documents and stage plans to secure resources and funding for projects. This includes linking strategy to outcome and assisting Project Sponsors and Business Owners in defining and driving business outcomes.
  • Use strong interpersonal and people management skills to instil a strong vision for the project, with the ability to influence and mentor others.
  • Develop project product profiles and manage the delivery of work packages to ensure product quality.
  • Lead and manage projects to achieve objectives in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Manage numerous supplier relationships to deliver required technical products.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, business representatives and vendors on project activities and actively manage stakeholder expectations and agreed objectives.
  • Develop, maintain and store (in accordance with the agencies records management policies) high quality project documentation to ensure effective communication of project goals, scope, and deliverables.
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage risks, issues, dependencies and constraints through practical mitigation strategies to support successful project delivery.
  • Manage project scope schedule and budget (including project resources) and escalate any issues with the relevant project boards.
  • Support change management activities required for realisation of project benefits.
