The Role
The Manager Workforce Systems provides strategic technology direction, leading a team responsible for software solutions that enable a positive staff experience at Murdoch. The manager is accountable for feature enhancements, maintenance and support of finance, human capital management, travel management and payment gateway systems that underpin the University's core functions.
Key responsibilities for the role include:
- Lead and manage all aspects of operational, service, project, and resource management for the Workforce Systems team to the University - aligned with client requirements and organisational priorities.
- Provide strategic technology leadership for key platforms, including Workday (ERP), Ascender(payroll), Xetta Pay(payment gateway) and Locomote(corporate travel).
- Motivate team members to maximise potential through effective management and development of the team via communication, appraisals, objective setting, performance management, mentoring and training to bridge skill gaps.
- Develop working relationships with University staff and senior management at all levels.
- Manage the overall delivery of application support for all Workforce Systems within defined service levels, including incidents, problems, and changes.
- Drive outcomes from software and service providers, measuring their success against contractual outcomes.
- Lead the lifecycle of application support for the team, including minor feature enhancements, application maintenance, software patching, application testing and major version upgrades where applicable.
What you'll bring to this role
- Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent competency along with extensive experience in managing enterprise product, platform, or software support teams.
- Demonstrated capabilities in complex product / project delivery with a strong grasp of change management, contemporary software delivery lifecycles and DevOps practices.
- Strong understanding of task management practices within agile and waterfall delivery frameworks, including scrum, demand management, request management and incident management processes.
- Excellent planning, analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a strong sense of ownership, urgency and drive.
- Demonstrated ability to establish teams, lead, motivate and develop others to achieve goals and provide high quality service.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to effectively persuade and influence others to achieve strategic outcomes; including the ability to work collaboratively, building trust and credibility through positive working relationships and outstanding client service.
