About the Role

With our growth plans, we have a great opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our talented team in Boronia. The prime functions of this position are to plan, organize and control the improvement of Manufacturing to ensure that goods are produced efficiently and on time, monitoring the consistency of material being delivered to customers, and implementing standardized work practices across the manufacturing site.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Continually seek to improve all processes to perform work, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors to continually improve quality and efficiencies.  
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Review engineering drawings and collaborate with engineering team to ensure efficient engineering to manufacturing production packages.
  • Liaise with staff and stakeholders to provide Manufacturing Engineering information. 
  • Troubleshoot any technical design difficulties w/operations, which may arise during the manufacture of product, and take appropriate action to prevent future occurrences of the problems.
  • Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. 
  • Release and maintain accurate equipment parts BOM’s for purchasing and manufacturing of component assemblies.
  • Generate an accurate BOM based on the Sales Order to enable the PM to place the items on order on time.
  • Review production costs against standards or job budget to ensure budgeted Manufacturing margins are being achieved.
  • Identify potential risk and possible delays, take up corrective measures to ensure the customer deliver requirements are met as per the quality standards. 
  • Make recommendations for the addition or reduction of production heads in conjunction with the production schedule.
  • Provide on-the-job training as needed.
  • Work in collaboration with the Group Quality Team to establish and document standard operating procedures, production workmanship standard, product quality standards.

Qualification and experience  

  • Degree qualified Mechanical Engineer.
  • 3+ years’ experience in a production environment involving complex engineering products.
  • Exposure to the manufacturing environment.
  • FMCG product, equipment and working environment knowledge is an advantage.
  • Experience with 2D CAD and 3D modelling systems
  • Fully proficient in MS Office365.

  • Able to problem solve by using root cause analysis & make decisions. 
  • Collaborative skills: Ability to develop, build and maintain strong relationships and work as part of a team both locally and globally.
  • Communication skills: High level of written, verbal and numeracy skills.
  • Ability to produce documentation of a level suitable for manufacturing & installation personnel.
  • Able to multi-task, manage and prioritise tasks and resources whilst working under pressure.
  • PC skills including a sound understanding of spreadsheets, AutoCAD competent, preparation of presentations and reports.
  • Positive can-do attitude to problem resolution and customer service
