ABOUT THE ROLE:

Due to recent market shifts toward zero emission vehicles and Volgren’s strong focus on the development of innovative new bus solutions and processes. The Manufacturing Engineering department is looking to build upon a strong manufacturing team.

The purpose of this role is to plan, direct and coordinate projects. Modification/maintenance of current and new processes. Manage and plan the manufacturing activities focused on continuous improvements and cost savings. The right candidate will supplement Volgren’s Manufacturing Engineering team while supporting VIC production.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluation of new production machines/processes considering EV, Hybrid and diesel buses.
  • Inspecting plant and machinery to ensure optimum performance is maintained with a focus on Lean manufacturing.
  • Participate in process audits to ensure adherence to manufacturing process standards.
  • Develop/maintain regular communication and reporting on project and activity status, milestones and barriers.
  • Creation and maintenance of process related procedures/forms and documents.
  • Integration Event completion (Bus build hours meet standards and resources in available time).
  • Analysing workforce utilization, facility layout, operational data and production schedules, costs to determine optimum worker and equipment efficiencies.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Safety focused on all aspects of role and factory floor
  • Problem solving and decision making skills
  • General computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook etc)
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes
  • Excellent eye for detail and dedication to accuracy
  • Able to work autonomously and to tight deadlines
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent communications skills from shop floor to management
  • Jig/Fixture design and assembly
  • SolidWorks and AutoCAD

EDUCATION OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Production engineer (or equivalent).
  • 5+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment will be regarded.
