About the Business:

Australian Dairy Park (ADP) is a subsidiary of Ausnutria Australia.  ADP is a global infant and adult formula manufacturing business manufacturing formulated milk powders for infants, toddlers and adults. 

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director, Supply Chain and Operations, the Manufacturing Manager will have experience in production and warehouse operations, maintenance, continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, quality, OH&S, and risk assessment. 

This position is a leadership role using a combination of frontline leadership, operational, analytical, and technical expertise to ensure APD’s production and warehouse processes and staff are working efficiently and effectively to meet business performance objectives whilst maintaining compliance to quality, safety, customer, and regulatory expectations.

Working closely with senior management and other functional areas (Quality, R&D, Procurement, Planning, Sales and Finance) the Manufacturing Manager will be required to take a hands on approach to develop and coach people, drive continuous improvement across ADP’s manufacturing performance, improve production asset utilization, and manage operational costs to meet ADP’s operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and development

Expected Results: 

  1. Provide leadership, direction, and management to factory and warehouse teams, and their reports, to set and achieve KPI’s pertaining to DIFOT, productivity, quality, safety, and operational improvement
  2. Collaboration with R&D, sales, quality, and supply chain on best practices and problem-solving to drive continuous improvement in manufacturing performance 
  3. Lead and coach on continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity and quality performance, whilst reducing cost and waste
  4. Lead and coach the team in compliance and operational improvements across health and safety, quality, maintenance, and production functions
  5. Develop existing team leaders and promote a team-based culture 
  • Production management

Expected Results: 

  1. Manage production and warehouse staff in conjunction with departmental team leaders to optimise workflow and meet production targets
  2. Implement & drive LEAN philosophy and methodologies through the business, as well as 5S & Continuous Improvement
  3. Ensure capacity planning on a weekly and day-to-day basis, including managing skill availability across departments and operational areas 
  4. Manage and report on plant performance, including but not limited to, production efficiencies and costs Ensure quality standards are upheld internally and support a quality culture
  5. Driving OHS initiatives, meeting legislative requirements, promoting a strong safety culture
  6. Preparation of monthly reports detailing business performance and productivity, as well as progress on the implementation and execution of operational efficiency plans
  7. Oversee the preparation of the plant’s operational budgets in line with business requirements.                                                                               
  • Warehouse Management

Expected Results:

  1. Leading and overseeing daily operations of the warehouse.
  2. Managing warehouse team to ensure deadlines are met.
  3. Identifying and implementing strategies to improve the operating efficiency of the warehouse.
  4. Ensuring that stock is received in from suppliers and orders sent out to our customers with 100% accuracy.
  5. Ensuring controls are in place to ensure accurate recording of inventory.
  6. Liaise with the customer service team regarding customer queries.
  7. Coordinating and conducting stocktakes.
  8. Ensuring safety procedures and protocols are continually developed and followed in the warehouse by all staff and maintaining high levels of cleanliness. 
  • Continuous improvement

Expected Results:

  1. Lead the establishment and implementation of site OEE programs that drive productivity and efficiency
  2. Support the establishment of site manufacturing excellence programs to drive continuous improvement opportunities that align with company priorities and objectives 
  3. Participate in analysis and evaluation of new processes, schedules, equipment, and machinery to optimise plant efficiencies. 
  4. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production processes, reduce costs, and enhance product quality
  5. Collaborating with the cross-functional leadership teams to build a robust pipeline of focused improvements that contribute to the bottom line
  6. Embed change management and create a culture of continuous improvement
  7. Establishes benchmark standards for plant utilisation, OEE, labour utilisation and total process loss

Attributes

  • Dynamic, autonomous, and energetic with extensive leadership experience gained from a high risk dairy manufacturing environment
  • Understanding and compliance of occupational health, environmental, and quality legislation
  • Experience in implementing continuous improvement / lean practices
  • Experience in production planning processes
  • Logical, analytical, with superior problem‐solving abilities
  • Practical understanding HACCP, GFSI certification, and customer standards
  • Strong commercial awareness and an ability to communicate at all levels in the business
  • Understanding of 5S philosophy and LEAN manufacturing principles

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar positions within a high risk dairy industry
  • Demonstrated experience in a production management role
  • Degree in engineering or technical discipline
  • Strong practical knowledge of root cause analysis techniques 
  • Experience in continuous improvement / lean methodologies
  • Experience working in a GFSI and HACCP certified environment
  • Able to build strong relationships across the business at all levels and influence key stakeholders
