Established in 1989 as a family-owned business, Essential is now into the second generation of Nielsen management and continues to cherish the family values entrenched by the founder John. Located in Carrum Downs, Victoria, our facility is purpose-built to our requirements and to further expand our capabilities in local and international markets.

Our story still has many pages to be written and we are now seeking a Manufacturing Manager to provide continuous improvement initiatives within our production and warehouse teams.   

YOUR ROLE

Are you ready to take on a pivotal role as our Manufacturing Manager? We are seeking a dedicated individual who will serve as the vital link between various departments, demonstrating a hands-on approach to ensure the seamless operation of our production and warehousing activities. As the Manufacturing Manager, you will be tasked with optimizing resource utilization, scheduling, and maintaining exceptional output and quality standards. We're looking for someone with a collaborative spirit, a problem-solving mindset, and a passion for enjoying the journey with the team.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Provide hands-on supervision and mentorship to our production team, helping them leverage their strengths and build confidence.
  • Foster a collaborative and cohesive team environment.

Performance Management:

  • Take charge of the team's performance and output, ensuring that targets are met or exceeded.

Hands-On Manufacturing:

  • Roll up your sleeves and actively engage in manufacturing tasks during peak production periods.

Innovative Manufacturing:

  • Spearhead the adoption of innovative manufacturing principles to enhance efficiency and productivity.

Resource and Scheduling Expertise:

  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of resource allocation and scheduling to meet customer deadlines effectively.

Continuous Learning:

  • Exhibit a willingness to understand the "how" and "why" behind our manufacturing processes and remain open to learning and growth.

Lean Principles Implementation:

  • Utilize your proven experience to implement 5S or equivalent lean manufacturing methodologies.

Safety and Culture:

  • Lead in maintaining a safety-first culture, both in terms of physical tools and the broader organizational culture.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, your supervisory team, and external networks to support safety initiatives.

YOUR SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS 

To be a complimentary fit for this role you will have:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Business or related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Proven experience +3 years in manufacturing management or a similar leadership role within a production facility 
  • Job Shop/Small Batch/Short Shelf-life Manufacturing experience
  • Solid understanding of processes and procedures, quality control principles and production scheduling
  • Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills 
  • Collaborative and effective team player, ability to inspire the team
  • Clear, professional, and articulate communication
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Be physically fit with a hard-working mindset and at times ‘be in the trenches’ to support the team through challenging periods.
