The Opportunity
1. Ships Engineer Position.
Overall responsibility for the daily operation, maintenance and repair of the vessels engine room machinery, equipment and systems.
Ensure the vessels machinery spaces are safely and efficiently maintained and operational in accordance with: o STCW – Watchkeeping duties

- Class Rules and Regulations
- ISM Code
- Machinery manufacturers recommendations and guidelines
- Owner’s instructions
- Charter Party requirements
- Manage and maintain the Engineers Log Book in accordance with Company procedures and statutory regulations.
- Provide leadership and technical direction for all engineering crew fostering and encouraging teamwork.
- Ensure that safe work practices are employed at all times.
- Implement and comply with the Vessel SMS as defined within the Company Integrated Management System (IMS).
- Ensure all Planned Maintenance is carried out and all records and reports are completed as required.
- Maintaining sufficient “Bunkers” and other essential lubricants, related stores and consumables for the efficient operation of machinery and equipment.
- Supervising the safe loading and/or transferring of “Bunkers” ensuring that all preventative measures are taken to eliminate the risk of oil spill and pollution of the Marine Environment.
- Liaise with the assigned Technical Superintendent/Technical Manager to assist with the preparation of dry-docking specifications and work scope.
- Manage the vessels Technical Library including, Engine Plans, Operating Instruction and Manuals
Duties of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Continued ongoing development and implementation of a Preventative Maintenance Program;
- Upkeep of workbooks/records for such maintenance and regular stock take of spares to ensure sufficient spares and consumables are at hand to minimize down time;
- Maintenance of firefighting equipment and safety gear;
- Engine maintenance and the cleanliness and general condition of the engine room including the emptying of used oil tanks;
- Testing of all safety devices fitted;
- Maintenance of the pumps, hydraulic equipment, electrical equipment lighting and Bridge equipment;
- Checking of voids and steering equipment;
- Maintenance of the scuba compressor and outboard motor(s);
- Bunkering of fuel and oil as required;
- Check and action the maintenance logbook;
- Stand watch unless emergency mechanical and electrical matters need attention;
- Any other maintenance or repair required for the integrity of the ship.

Qualifications Required
- Certificate of Competency issued in accordance with Flag State, STCW9 and AMSA Marine Order 3 (Seafarers qualifications) 2004; AMSA Marine Order 505 (Certificates of competency – national law) 2013, and National Standards for Commercial Vessels Part D for the position assigned.
- Certificate of Medical Fitness issued in accordance with AMSA Marine Order 9 (Health – medical fitness) 2010 or appropriate foreign Flag requirements.
Experience Required
- Must be able to demonstrate sea service specific to the type of vessel, scope of operation and type of work involved.
Minimum Requirements:
- Full Australian work rights with no restrictions.
- AMSA Certificate of Medical Fitness
- AMSA Certificate of Safety Training
2. Engineering Technician (Mechanical) Position.
Ensure that when placed in charge of the machinery space(s), all machinery is maintained and operated effectively and efficiently in accordance with the terms of reference laid down by the Chief Engineer duties and the Chief Engineers Standing Orders.
Compliance with Vessel SMS with particular attention to Vessel Maintenance and operational procedures contained in the Company Integrated Management System (IMS).
Provide leadership and technical direction for all engineering crew fostering and encouraging teamwork.
Other Activities/Tasks:
- Ensure the vessel is maintained and operates safely within statutory rules and regulations.
- Assume Watchkeeping Duties as directed by the Chief Engineer in accordance with STCW requirements.
- Ensure all maintenance and repairs are carried out to the satisfaction of the Chief Engineer.
- Ensure all reports and records are maintained on MEX – Company Online Computerised Maintenance Management System.
Health and Safety:
- Ensure all crew operate in accordance with safe working practices.
- Report any machinery deficiencies or defects to the Chief Engineer.
- Compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements when in the field.
- Compliance with all aspects of Waste Management Plan.
Competencies:
Must be able to demonstrate sea service specific to the type of vessel, scope of operation and type of work involved.
