Coral Expeditions is Australia’s pioneering cruise line, specialising in a unique style of immersive adventures by small expedition ship. With humble beginnings hosting cruises on the Great Barrier Reef, the company has grown into a borderless fleet of three ships carrying between 72 and 120 guests. For four decades, Coral Expeditions has operated with a single purpose – to take small groups of likeminded explorers to remote places with expert guidance and warm Australian hospitality. In 2023, we have returned to international sailings including New Zealand, Japan, Papua New Guinea, and Islands of Indonesia. 

Our crew are carefully selected for their engaging personalities, attention to detail and commitment to delivering the highest standards of service so our guests always receive a warm welcome aboard.

The Role 

To support the expansion of our fleet, we are seeking Casual and Full-time Marine Engineers who are well presented, have a bright attitude and are team orientated to join our onboard deck team!

Responsibilities include: 

  • Planned maintenance and services to manufacturers recommendations and survey requirements
  • Upkeep of workbooks/records
  • Review the maintenance work list in the scheduled and unscheduled work requirements and identify hazards
  • Main and auxiliary engine lube oil consumption and main engine running hours for planned maintenance
  • The testing of all mechanical safety devices as fitted
  • Condition monitoring of propulsion plant
  • Maintenance of firefighting equipment and safety gear
  • Bunkering of fuel and oil as required
  • Comply with oil pollution regulations and maintain the oil record book
  • Comply with all regulations lSM codes of conduct and standard
  • Hotel defects attended to in a timely manner.

The minimum requirements are:

  • AMSA Medical
  • MSIC Card
  • ASSB
  • First Aid & CPR
  • Passenger Ship training
  • STCW95
  • AMSA Engineer Watchkeeper or higher.
